Fine citizens of TottonCraft,
After weathering Hurricane Sandy, it is with great relief that I can deliver the following message to you all:
We had right around 73 hours of downtime. Lost power at about 5:00PM Monday, and it has been restored at approximately 6:00PM Thursday. Thankfully, we suffered no damage to our property, and the generator we had got us by. In comparison to how bad Long Island and New Jersey had it, we are very fortunate.
Thank you all for your patience during the downtime, and let the games resume!
Citizens of TottonCraft,
Between approximately 4:45PM and 6:10PM Eastern Time today, the server suffered a power outage. It was raining sideways at my house and some trees across the street fell on the power lines. Thankfully, the juice was restored in a short period of time. Just wanted to update anyone who may have tried to connect earlier this afternoon and could not get on. I want to be completely transparent with you guys about any unexpected downtime we encounter. Thanks for your patience, and happy mining!
Sam and I are going to perform some routine maintenance on the server starting at 12:15pm Eastern Time today. Here’s the short list:
- Upgrading CraftBukkit and server packages
- Adding night mode back on the live map
- Smoothing out boundaries between different terrain generators using mcmerge
The server will be down for an hour at most, but we expect it to be back up earlier than that. I will update this post as soon as we are back online. Thanks for your time!
12:50pm Update – We Are Back Online!
Adding the night mode to the live map had the unfortunate side effect of destroying the day mode as well. For the time being, the live map may be a little screwy. We restarted a full render of the overworld, so in a day or two’s time (yes, it takes forever) it should be fully functional again.
Thanks for your patience! You can now play again without interruptions
We’re pleased to announce that the new server is now online! Please edit your entry for TottonCraft in the multiplayer screen. The new server address is:
So basically, just delete the “:25585″ from the end.
We still have a lot of work to do, including rendering the rest of the live map and updating references to the old server. We will update you once again when everything has been completed. But for now, you can play and rejoin the server!
Thanks for your time, and we hope that this will be a big improvement for all of us.
Another bug-fix patch was released this morning, and the bukkit team already has a release for it! As of this morning, our server has been updated to version 1.2.5. Feel free to update your Minecraft client at will.
Some of the notable fixes include the removal of TNT “ghosts,” cats are now less eager to sit on things, villager door detection has been updated so they do not have runaway-breeding sessions, and there is now shift-click support in furnaces. Check it out the entire changelog if you want to know what else has been updated. Anything in particular you are excited about? Let us know in the comments! Until next time, happy mining!
